They welcome the public to stop in to say hello during the ribbon cutting and open house on Friday, December 3rd, during the Festival of Ice and First Friday in Downtown Lewistown. The ribbon-cutting will be at 5:30 pm, followed by an open house until 7:00 pm. There will be pretzel dogs, soft pretzels, and whoopie pies from The Square Café and milk and hot chocolate from the Reedsville Creamery. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win a Google Nest IQ Wi-Fi camera.

​We think the Mifflin Soaring Association clubhouse has one of the best locations in our county, which can be found only steps away from the Mifflin County Airport office and runway.  

They help promote the opportunities for glider pilots to soar the Appalachian ridges that extend from our area southwest as far as Tennessee and Alabama, and northeast into eastern Pennsylvania and New York. Pilots from all over the world visit our area as a result of everything they do to promote what a treasure our community is.

A new tower in Decatur Township will deliver high-speed internet to residents in the area. Mifflin County Wireless has completed the construction of a 150-foot self-supporting tower near Dormantown Road and Orchard Lane.
 
Earlier this year, Mifflin County Wireless and One-Stop Communications partnered, and since then, they have more than tripled the areas in the county that have access to high-speed internet. This will make the seventh new tower that was brought into operation this year expanding coverage for high-speed internet in Mifflin County.
 
With the new tower in Decatur Township, Mifflin County Wireless now has nine towers servicing the county with reliable high-speed internet. Towers currently in operation are located in Belleville, Havice Valley, Lewistown North, Lewistown South, McClure, McVeytown East, McVeytown West, and Reedsville. ​When we install high-speed internet powered by Mifflin County Wireless, the antenna on the outside of your home or business must have a clear line of sight to one of our towers. This means there can be no trees or other obstructions between the tower and your antenna.

When you contact us about service, the first thing we do is verify your address with mapping software to make sure the topography in the area does not block service to you. If that checks out, our technicians will complete a site survey at the time of installation to make sure the mapping software is correct and no trees or buildings are blocking your line of sight to one of our towers.

Our installation technicians are trained to determine the best location to make sure you have reliable service. Sometimes the line of sight to one of our towers is not always easy to determine. In the photo above, one of our antennas is pointed through an opening in the trees to a tower on top of the mountain, which is not visible in the photo.
