Responding to growing consumer demand to watch favorite content on their mobile devices, DISH Network L.L.C., a subsidiary of DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH), has upgraded its DISH Anywhere™ app to integrate the Hopper TransfersTM feature to both iOS and Android phones and tablets. The new DISH Anywhere app gives Hopper® with Sling® users the ability to view recorded content where no Internet connection is available. This enhancement is a free update for DISH Anywhere users.

Today, DISH also announced that the integrated DISH Anywhere app will launch on Kindle Fire tablets in the coming months.

The update combines two apps DISH released last year: DISH Anywhere and Hopper TransfersTM. DISH Anywhere gives users the ability to remotely view live TV programs or recorded events when connected to the Internet. It is available on most Internet-connected devices including iPhones, iPads and Android phones and tablets.

The Hopper Transfers feature, now incorporated into DISH Anywhere, gives users the ability to move recorded programs from a Hopper with Sling to mobile devices for watching programs when an Internet connection is unavailable.

AT&T’s* new Mobile Share Value® plans will make it even easier for customers to share data and save money while enjoying the nation’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network.1   Beginning Dec. 8, new and existing wireless consumer and business customers will have the option to choose from new Mobile Share Value plans. The new plans offer customers more savings and provide ‘No Annual Service Contract’ options.

With the ‘No Annual Service Contract’ options, smartphone customers can save $15 a month on Mobile Share Value plans.2 Customers can receive these monthly savings when they: Get a new smartphone for no down payment with AT&T Next; bring their own smartphone; purchase a smartphone at full retail price; or when their smartphone is no longer under contract and they switch to the new plans. All Mobile Share Value plan customers will benefit from shared data plus unlimited talk and text on their phones. Consumers will have the ability to connect up to 10 devices, including tablets and other wireless devices, while business customers will be able to connect up to 10, 15, 20 or 25 devices, depending on the plan.

• It’s never been more affordable to get on the nation’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network. For only $45 a month, smartphone customers can now get unlimited talk and text plus 300MB of data. Qualifying smartphones can be added to any Mobile Share Value plan for $25 more a month per phone; tablets can be added for $10 more per device.

• Customers with basic and messaging phones can enjoy a low monthly rate of $40 for unlimited talk, text and 300MB of data.3  For $20 more a month per phone, additional basic and messaging lines can be added to any Mobile Share Value plan. 

• In addition to the 300MB option, AT&T Mobile Share Value plans offer data options ranging from 1GB up to 50 GB, all with unlimited talk and text.

AT&T is also adding a new AT&T Nextsm plan with an 18 month upgrade option on Dec. 8.  It will be available to consumers for up to four smartphones, and to select small business customers, who may provide employees with up to six company-owned devices.3 The new plan will make monthly smartphone payments even lower than the existing AT&T Next option, by spreading payments over 26 months and giving eligible customers a way to get a new smartphone after 18 monthly payments for no down payment, no upgrade fee, no activation fee and no financing fee.

DISH Upgrades Hopper Software; Simplifies Navigation and Hopper-TV Integration

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– DISH is rolling out the latest software for its Hopper® Whole-Home HD DVR, making DISH the first pay-TV provider to implement HDMI-CEC technology to control users’ televisions. The software update, code named “Denver,” is the fifth in a line of Hopper updates this year.

In addition to the upgraded Hopper and television integration, DISH has made updates to the box’s navigation and search interfaces. These enhancements, including On Demand shelf organization and control of Joey boxes with the DISH Explorer app, will improve user experiences on Hopper with Sling and Hopper set-top boxes.

HDMI-CEC Technology:
With a new HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronic Control) function, the moment a user turns on the Hopper, the television will automatically adjust to the proper viewing input. For example, customers who last watched a Blu-Ray no longer have to manually switch back to their TV’s satellite input to view their DISH channels.

This makes it easier for users to scroll through their options and select from the more than 20,000 titles available in DISH’s On Demand collection. As part of this new design, DISH includes a “Free for Kids” shelf that features On Demand content filtered by content ratings appropriate for children.

DISH Explorer: 
To create a seamless browsing and content discovery experience, the DISH Explorer app can now control all televisions in a Hopper ecosystem. To further enhance the program discovery capability within DISH Explorer, the app now includes a new “See Also” recommendation feature. This allows users to easily find similar programming options. DISH Explorer is a highly-rated, second-screen iPad app that easily finds programming, engages on social media and serves as a remote control.

Search: 
Hopper’s search function now produces results from all possible sources, including the programming guide, recorded content and On Demand. Results. This is also presented in the shelf-based format, making it easy to view and select from the displayed options.

Programming guide: 
When users visit HBO, Starz, Encore, Epix and History in the programming guide, an option to select that channel’s On Demand page will appear with additional content options.

Help app: 
A new “Help” app provides customers with information to better maximize Hopper features and settings. The app is accessible from the “Menu” or by pressing the blue button on the DISH remote.

Hopper Transfers is the second DISH app for remote viewing. It is used to move recorded programs from a Hopper with Sling to mobile devices for watching programs when an Internet connection is unavailable. This app and capability is currently only available for iPads.

TWO MOBILITY APPS BECOME ONE

By the end of the year, both convenient features, Internet viewing and transfers, will be available within the new DISH Anywhere app and will work with both iOS and Android mobile devices.

Airline passengers won’t have to “turn off all electronic devices” anymore — they’ll be able to read, work, play games, watch movies and listen to music from gate to gate under new guidelines from the Federal Aviation Administration. But they still can’t talk on their cellphones through the flight.
