You can pick up the new Moto X at One-Stop Communications.  The customizable version of Moto X is the first smartphone designed by you, assembled in the USA and available only for AT&T.  To see more Moto X features in action, check out this video.

AT&T will offer the 16 GB Moto X for $199.99 and the 32 GB Moto X for $249.99 with a two-year agreement.  With AT&T Next, the 16 GB model is available for $27 per month and the 32 GB model is $32 per month.

“We’re excited to be the first carrier to offer you a chance to design a smartphone that’s truly yours,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president – Devices, AT&T.  “We’ve worked closely with Motorola to create a tailored display, sales, and distribution processes to get these customized devices into your hands quickly so you can start enjoying all Moto X has to offer, all on the nation’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network.”

Designing your own Moto X is simple.  Using Moto Maker, you can select:

  • Color options for the front and back
  • Accent colors for the power key, volume key and camera ring
  • Adding your name or short message on the back of the phone
  • Unique wallpapers
  • Custom power-on message
  • Memory capacity – 16GB or 32GB

Once you’ve designed and purchased your custom device, it will be assembled in the USA and shipped to you for free in four days or less**** with no hassle returns.

The Moto X runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), and features a 4.7-inch HD display. Other device highlights include:

  • Touchless Control lets you check the weather, get directions, make a call or search for just about anything—just by saying “OK Google Now.”  Because you tune Moto X to your voice, it’s always ready to respond to you.
  • The Quick Capture function makes the 10 megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and 2 megapixel front-facing camera even easier to use.  Just pick up your Moto X, twist your wrist twice and you’re ready to shoot. Touch anywhere on the screen, and you’ll get an amazing shot.  Its Clear Pixel technology can capture dark scenes or stop motion blur in bright light.
  • With Active Display, information efficiently appears on the screen. It doesn’t interrupt and it’s battery friendly. You don’t have to wake up Moto X to look at the time or see your messages, satisfying that constant itch to check your phone.

Keeping your phone protected with passwords can be cumbersome.  Now with a new accessory called Motorola Skip, you can unlock your phone with a single tap.  Skip is a small clip you can wear on a shirtsleeve, shirt hem, belt loop, or wherever it feels most comfortable.  Additionally, it comes with Skip dots, which work just like Skip but in sticker form.  Stick them in convenient places like a car dashboard or nightstand.  Skip allows you to keep information safe, but still have easy access to what you need most. Plus, for a limited time, Motorola Skip will be included for free in all Moto Maker orders.

As Part of AT&T’s Project VIP Investment, Customers to Benefit From Nation’s Fastest and Most Reliable 4G LTE Network on the Latest Devices.

State CollegePennsylvania
August 21, 2013

AT&T* has turned on the nation’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network** in State College, bringing customers the latest generation of wireless network technology. Watch here to see several of the benefits AT&T 4G LTE provides, including:

  • Faster speeds. LTE technology is capable of delivering mobile Internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G***. Customers can stream, download, upload and game faster than ever before.
  • Reliability. AT&T not only has the nation’s fastest 4G LTE network, but now also has the most reliable 4G LTE network. According to independent third-party data, AT&T has the highest success rate for delivering mobile content across nationwide 4G LTE networks.
  • Cool new devices. AT&T offers several LTE-compatible devices, including new AT&T 4G LTEsmartphones and tablets.
  • Faster response time. LTE technology offers lower latency, or the processing time it takes to move data through a network, such as how long it takes to start downloading a webpage or file once you’ve sent the request. Lower latency helps to improve services like mobile gaming, two-way video calling and telemedicine.
  • More efficient use of spectrum. Wireless spectrum is a finite resource, and LTE uses spectrum more efficiently than other technologies, creating more space to carry data traffic and services and to deliver a better network experience.

“We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network in State College responds to what customers want from their mobile experience — more, faster, reliability, on the best devices, and just in time for the students to head back to school,” said J. Michael Schweder, president, AT&T Mid Atlantic.

AT&T’s 4G Network

This launch is part of AT&T’s Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced last fall to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks. Through this investment, AT&T is supporting its customers’ growing desire for high-speed Internet access and new mobile, app and cloud-based services. As part of Project VIP, AT&T plans to add more than 10,000 macro cell sites nationwide by year-end 2015, as well as deploy more than 40,000 small cells and add more than 1,000 Distributed Antenna Systems to increase the density of its wireless network.

AT&T’s innovation and investment has resulted in a nationwide 4G network with ultra-fast speeds and a consistent user experience. The great performance of AT&T’s fastest and most reliable 4G LTE network continues to be validated by independent third-party testing:

  • Our 4G LTE service was recognized as having faster average download and upload speeds than any of our competitors in PCWorld/TechHive’s most recent 20-market speed tests — the second consecutive year that AT&T has ranked first overall. PCWorld/TechHive also ranked AT&T’s as the fastest combination of 3G and 4G services in the 20 cities it tested.****
  • And AT&T was named America’s fastest 4G LTE network in PC Magazine’s 2013 Fastest Mobile Networks 30-market study — and also swept the top rankings in all six U.S. regions from coast to coast: Northeast, Southeast, North-Central, South-Central, Northwest and Southwest.*****

Even as AT&T continues to expand its 4G LTE coverage, customers can get 4G speeds outside of 4G LTE areas on our 4G HSPA+ network, unlike some competitors, where smartphone customers may fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.

AT&T’s focus to deliver the best possible mobile Internet experience goes beyond 4G to embrace additional connection technologies. AT&T operates the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network******* including more than 32,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at popular restaurants, hotels, bookstores and retailers, and provides access to more than 402,000 hotspots globally through roaming agreements. Most AT&T smartphone customers get access to our entire national Wi-Fi network at no additional cost, and Wi-Fi usage doesn’t count against customers’ monthly wireless data plans.

AT&T also is a leading developer of Distributed Antenna Systems, which utilize multiple small antennas to maximize coverage and speed within stadiums, convention centers, office buildings, hotels and other areas where traditional coverage methods are challenging.

Over the past five years, AT&T invested nearly $98 billion into its wireless and wireline networks across the country. Since 2008, AT&T has invested more capital into the U.S. economy than any other public company. In a July 2012 report, the Progressive Policy Institute ranked AT&T No. 1 on its list of U.S. “Investment Heroes.”

AT&T has been named America’s fastest 4G LTE network, according to a newly published magazine study. Results of tests in 30 U.S. markets by PC Magazine show AT&T wireless customers are benefiting from blazing-fast wireless Internet speeds.

In addition to being ranked the fastest overall in the U.S., AT&T’s network swept the top rankings in all six U.S. regions from coast to coast: Northeast, Southeast, North-Central, South-Central, Northwest and Southwest. Moreover, AT&T’s network also ranked first in 24 of the 30 markets tested.

“AT&T is on top of the world this year with the fastest LTE network in most major cities,” said PCMag.com’s lead mobile analyst Sascha Segan. “Combined with a fast HSPA network where it doesn’t have LTE coverage, that makes AT&T our choice this year for speedy mobile data.”

Kris Rinne, AT&T senior vice president-network technologies, said: “This PC Magazine honor is another important third-party validation of our network quality. We’ve listened to our customers, we’ve invested heavily and worked hard, and today’s news again validates that AT&T offers an outstanding network, device portfolio and value.”

Several other third-party testing firms also have honored the AT&T 4G LTE network for speed and performance. AT&T 4G LTE is available in 278 markets and covers more than 200 million people. Improving the wireless network is a top priority for AT&T. Over the last five years, AT&T invested nearly $98 billion into operations, more than any other public company in the U.S.

AT&T has built the nation’s largest 4G network, and its customers are able to enjoy widespread, ultra-fast and consistent 4G speeds on their compatible device as they move in and out of LTE areas on AT&T 4G HSPA+. With some competitors, smartphone customers may fall back to slower 3G technologies when outside of LTE coverage.

The 24 markets where AT&T finished first were: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa and Tucson.

AT&T this past weekend started rolling out emergency alerts to customers using iPhone 5 and 4S. The alerts will come as a software update that includes Wireless Emergency Alerts.

The messages are government-issued safety messages that include AMBER Alerts, emergency alerts – such as man-made or natural disasters, and Presidential alerts.

According to a post on the company’s websites, the Wireless Emergency Alerts are part of the FCC’s Commerical Mobile Telephone Alerts (CMAS) program and are mandated by law. Users may turn off alerts (except for Presidential alerts) if they choose.

Users will see a message that states “Carrier Settings Update:  new settings required for your device have been installed” when the software has been updated.  After that, the iPhone 5 or 4S will receive all Wireless Emergency Alerts by default.

While the software update is mandatory, users are not charged for the data to deliver it and Wireless Emergency Alerts will never count against the user’smessaging plan. The update will be sent to users with iOS 6.1 or higher.

AT&T noted that customers on eligible hardware but not on iOS 6.1.x will not receive the carrier update over-the-air. When they next update their software via iTunes, the update will include the current carrier settings.

AT&T, the U.S. leader in 4G LTE-connected tablets, and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) announced today the addition of the Samsung Galaxy Note® 8.0 to AT&T’s portfolio of connected products. The 4G LTE-connected Galaxy Note 8.0 will be available exclusively with AT&T in the coming weeks.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 runs on AT&T 4G LTE, which currently covers more than 200 million people in the U.S.; with plans to expand to cover 300 million people by the end of 2014.  In a report by independent testing organization RootMetrics, AT&T’s 4G LTE network was called “blazing fast.”  The report found AT&T’s 4G LTE network delivered the fastest pure LTE speeds in markets where AT&T provided 4G LTE**.

According to Strategy Analytics, tablet sales in the United States will rise from 49.8 million in 2012 to 103.7 million in 2017.  As tablet sales continue to rise, AT&T has cemented itself as the leading tablet provider, offering the widest and best selection of tablets of any U.S. carrier.

“Demand for 4G LTE-connected tablets is growing, and we’re offering our customers the most choice and the best portfolio.  The Galaxy Note 8.0 is an awesome tablet and flies on 4G LTE,” said Chris Penrose, Senior Vice President – Emerging Devices, AT&T. “We expect customers to be excited about the Galaxy Note 8.0’s versatility that makes its useful for work and entertainment.”

The Galaxy Note 8.0 is the ideal premium tablet for work, play, home, or on the go. Galaxy Note 8.0 also features several new business solutions, including SAFE™ (Samsung for Enterprise) technology, which ensures a secure work environment even away from the office. With SAFE, Samsung layers extra features on top of native Android to make your tablet more secure and easier for your employer’s IT department to manage. Using Polaris Office, customers can view, create and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations – right on their tablet. They can also add handwritten notes and annotate on PowerPoint and Word documents.

With Multi Window, users can open two different applications side-by-side to perform two tasks at once, such as checking email while drafting notes.  The S Pen™, exclusive on Samsung Note devices, comes integrated in the Note 8.0 and offers precision, control and an unprecedented note taking capability. The S Pen can replicate a mouse and simulate writing or sketching, eliminating the need for a notepad, sketchbook, sticky notes and rolodex contacts. Air View™ allows users to preview emails, calendar events, photos and videos just by hovering over the screen with the S Pen.

Galaxy Note 8.0 includes several entertainment options including WatchON™, a new search and recommendation service which makes finding TV shows and on-demand video content faster, easier and more personalized. WatchON simplifies the process of discovering new content to watch by searching across multiple content sources (such as live TV, YouTube, and streaming video-on-demand sources) to recommend movies and TV shows. For users more interested in reading a book, the new Reading Mode creates a comfortable reading experience in all lighting conditions by optimizing the gorgeous screen to provide perfect illumination and tone. And with the ability to annotate directly with the S pen, all on a size made easy to hold, reading has never been more enjoyable, even on the go.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 is powered by Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and a 1.6 GHz quad core processor with a 4,600 mAh battery. Customers will experience fast downloads with little lag time helping enhance their ability to move between home screens and apps. The Galaxy Note 8.0 weighs 12 ounces and has an eight inch display, with 189 pixels per inch, which provides users with a vibrant HD quality picture with plenty of room to work. Users can play videos in 1080p resolution, and the 5-megapixel rear facing camera with digital zoom can shoot 720p video, while the 1.3-megapixel front facing camera can handle video chats at 720p resolution. Galaxy Note 8.0 comes with 16GB internal memory and a microSD slot for up to 32GB expandable memory.  Customers also receive 50GB of free storage with AT&T Locker (available via an update), so users can easily store their videos, pictures, and files and access form multiple devices.
