Sending out the following email from mywireless.org:

Representatives Bob Goodlatte (R-VA) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) introduced the Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act (H.R. 3086).

You might remember last month the Senate version of this bill was introduced by Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and John Thune (R-SD).

Why this bill is so important:
Nearly every American has the ability to go online these days, whether through their smartphone, tablet, wireless device, or through a landline Internet connection. Internet access is vital to consumers and businesses alike.

Current law prevents Internet access from being taxed for most people, but it’s only temporary. The Internet tax moratorium is set to expire in November 2014, but the new legislative proposals would make it permanent. It also protects you from being taxed multiple times by state and local governments for the same purchase you make over the Internet.

What You Can Do

Encourage your Representative and Senators to keep Internet access tax-free. Tell them you want them to support a permanent extension of the Internet tax moratorium.

This will protect you from having new taxes imposed on your Internet access and ensure Internet commerce will remain unhindered by discriminatory, duplicative taxes.

Sincerely,

Team MyWireless.org

Have you received a text message that appears to be spam, but you don’t really know what to do with it? Most carriers will let you report it by forwarding it to 7726 (SPAM).

AT&T lets you report spam messages by forwarding them to 7726 (SPAM). It won’t necessarily stop the messages from coming to you right away, but AT&T can start an investigation. If you receive a number of spam texts, we recommend putting 7726 into your contact list so that you do not need to remember the numbers.
