Getting a new phone can be a lot of fun. You no longer have to deal with a slow interface, low memory and other things that plague older phones. One of the first things people usually do when they get a new phone is to explore all its new bells and whistles. After a few minutes, you pretty much know how the new phone functions. However, be careful before using your new phone in the car. The following list describes some of the things to keep in mind when driving and using your new phone.

Know Your Settings
One of the most dangerous times when driving and using your phone is when you’re attempting to connect it to your Bluetooth system. Not all phone navigational systems are created the same, so you must look down to see what you’re doing. This can be a very dangerous thing to do on the road as it only takes a second to miss a stop sign or pass a red light. Always make sure that these connectivity issues are taken care of prior to leaving your driveway. Continue to do this until you know your settings by heart.

Pick Up Some Accessories
Cell Phones have useful functions that come in handy in the car. Some people use their phone’s GPS to navigate through an unfamiliar part of town, but having the phone on constantly can drain its battery. You can alleviate this common complaint by getting a cellphone charger for your car. Others use their phones to speak with friends and family during a long drive.

Whatever your reason for using your phone while driving, you must always consider ways to diminish your lack of attention on the road. Get a phone mount for your car so that it’s in your line of sight while you’re driving. Mounts allow you to place your phone off to the side, letting you continue speaking or getting directions without taking your eyes off the road. Before you do this, keep in mind the laws within your own state and local county. Phones can be a major cause of distracted driving, and it’s even illegal to use them in some places.

Go Hands-Free
One of the best things about new vehicle technology is that not only can you listen to your music through the car’s speakers, but you can also talk, text and ask for specific items without having to touch your phone. Although it might be difficult to break the habit of having to touch your phone, the safest thing to do for yourself and any other passengers is to go hands-free and utilize these voice-command features in your car. Most new phones and newer model cars have this feature.

Although you might be one of the best drivers on the road, all those skills don’t matter much if you’re distracted by your phone. Follow the tips above to stay safe on the road with your new phone.

Cricket Lands Its Fourth J. D. Power Award Out of Last Six Eligible Studies

ATLANTA, Aug. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — J.D. Power released its 2019 U.S. Wireless Purchase Experience Non-Contract Full-Service Study Volume 2, and Cricket Wireless, with 862 points, earned the top spot among all non-contract full-service carriers.  This is the second year in a row Cricket has finished first in the Purchase Experience study and is Cricket’s fourth J.D. Power award out of the last six eligible studies.

Atlanta-based Cricket Wireless earned this award by outscoring the non-contract full-service industry average by 11 points, according to the study. In addition to winning this award Cricket Wireless, part of the AT&T Prepaid Portfolio, is the nation’s fastest-growing prepaid provider since 2017, with more than 10 million subscribers.

“Taking home the highest ranking in both J.D. Power Purchase Experience and Customer Care studies shows the attention we pay to every detail of the customer journey is resonating,” said John Dwyer, President of the AT&T Prepaid Portfolio (which includes Cricket Wireless). “Cricket saw its lowest churn of all time in second quarter. These awards demonstrate the reason customers are staying with us. When customers purchase products and services from us, it’s an easy, high-quality experience that leaves them smiling.”

Dwyer added, “I’d like to personally thank our employees and the network of Authorized Retailers across the country who live and breathe the Cricket brand every day.”

Now in their 16th year of publication, the U.S. Wireless Purchase Experience Non-Contract Full-Service Performance Study evaluates the experience of customers who use any one of three purchase channels: phone calls with sales representatives, visits to a retail wireless store, or online/website.

The studies measure purchase experience satisfaction in six areas (in order of importance): store sales representatives, website, offerings and promotions, phone sales representatives, store facility, and cost of service.

The studies were fielded from January through June 2019.

Cricket Takes the Top Spot with a Higher Score Than the Industry Average

ATLANTA, Aug. 1, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — J.D. Power released its 2019 U.S. Wireless Customer Care Non-Contract Full-Service Study Volume 2, and Cricket Wireless, with 829 points, earned the top spot among all non-contract full-service carriers.  This award marks Cricket’s third J.D. Power award and follows it’s #1 ranking in the J. D. Power Wireless Customer Care Non-Contract Full-Service Volume 1 study released earlier this year.

Atlanta-based Cricket Wireless earned this award by outscoring the non-contract full-service industry average by 14 points, according to the study.

“Winning the J.D. Power Award for Customer Care is a huge accomplishment for the Cricket team. It’s direct feedback from our customers that shows what we are doing is working,” said John Dwyer, President of the AT&T Prepaid Portfolio (which includes Cricket Wireless). “Providing customers with an experience that leaves them smiling drives everything we do at Cricket. Our employees work to solve customer issues quickly while being friendly and respectful. It’s a simple formula – we work tirelessly to maintain this responsive and effective environment every day.”

Dwyer added, “It’s not a coincidence that Cricket won this award and also drove AT&T’s Prepaid Portfolio to be the fastest-growing prepaid provider in 2017, 2018 and the first quarter of 2019. Great experiences lead to customer loyalty and growth.”

The 2019 U.S. Wireless Customer Care Non-Contract Full-Service Performance Study – Volume 2 is based on responses from 1891 customers who contacted their carrier’s customer care department within the past three months. The studies evaluate customer care experiences across 12 different customer care channels: phone customer service reps, in-store contact, online chat, email, social media post, carrier app question post, automated telephone systems, website search, social media search, user forum, video from carrier, and carrier app search.

The studies were fielded from January through June 2019.

Atlanta-based Cricket Wireless took home the top honor in the J.D. Power Award for Wireless Customer Care for the 2019 Volume 1 study for Non-Contract Full-Service providers.  After winning the J.D. Power Award for Wireless Purchase Experience last volume , this win marks the first time Cricket has taken the top spot in the customer care Non-Contract Full-Service study with a score of 815 points.

The J.D. Power news follows on the heels of our announcement that we are now serving more than 10 million subscribers—an increase of more than 5 million since joining the AT&T family five years ago. Clearly, Cricket is off to a great start this year as we land another company milestone with this exciting J.D. Power win.

“Earning our customers loyalty – and keeping it – is our primary focus every day,” said John Dwyer, President of the AT&T Prepaid Portfolio. “This recognition from J.D. Power lets us know that our commitment to serving our customers is making a difference where it counts. Winning awards is great, but the real reward is providing a level of service that has allowed us to be the fastest growing prepaid provider for two straight years. That’s how we really know our customers love what we are doing.”

So, what are some of the things we’ve done to enhance the level of service we’re able to deliver to our customers? First and foremost, we listened. Through customer surveys, we learned what we were doing right and, more importantly, what we could do better. Based on this feedback, we took several steps to improve the customer experience.

We streamlined many of our processes and systems, so reps have the right tools in place to quickly address customer concerns. For example, we gave our in-store reps more functionality to execute transactions simply and efficiently at the point of sale, removing pain points for customers and store employees.
We launched a new device support tool, which essentially shows our reps the exact device the customer is using, allowing them to better troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.

We introduced our Going The Extra Smile philosophy that addresses things like knowing and using the customer’s name, ensuring the customer know our rep’s name and showing sincere appreciation for their business. While these may seem basic—they matter. Delivering a personal experience for every customer, every time goes a long way to building a genuine connection.

On the technology front, we simplified the menu options and the language used in our Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. Customers can now navigate faster to the solutions and information they need. Additionally, we launched a Chat Bot that provides faster answers to our customers. The bot is available to customers 24 hours a day, providing support when our customer service reps are home with family.
We also made updates to our new hire training, such as giving reps more hands-on practice as well as putting more focus on scenario-based training versus systems and policy training.

On March 17, Cricket Wireless will celebrate its 20th birthday together with more than 10 million subscribers, and now, with the top ranking in the J.D. Power Award for Wireless Customer Care Non-Contract Full-Service.

The 2019 U.S. Wireless Customer Care Non-Contract Full-Service Performance Study—Volume 1 is based on responses from 11,531 customers who contacted their carrier’s customer care department within the past three months. The studies evaluate customer care experiences across 12 different customer care channels: phone customer service reps; in-store contact; online chat; email; social media post; carrier app question post; automated telephone systems; website search; social media search; user forum; video from carrier; and carrier app search.

The studies were fielded from July through December 2018.

Atlanta-based Cricket Wireless reached another major company milestone, growing the #CricketNation to more than 10 million subscribers. That’s more than 5 million subscribers in the five years since joining the AT&T family.

So, why are customers choosing Cricket?
Our customers are smart, savvy, and discerning budgeters. They’re taking care of their families and their wallets at the same time. They don’t want to pay more for a great service and they shouldn’t have to. We offer a great value with no annual contract, taxes included and no overages. Cricket Wireless is going beyond that, blazing a trail that combines a great value and price with award-winning customer service, as the only prepaid provider to currently offer:

  • Unmatched value (including 4 lines of unlimited data for $100) is available to all our customers, not just the ones who switch over;
  • A great line-up of devices available with flexible payment plans without a credit check;
  • A service discount when you sign up for auto-bill pay, plus a $25 reward for you and your friend when you refer a friend and they sign up for Cricket2.
  • AT&T Prepaid and Cricket are the only prepaid carriers that offer Roaming, International Long Distance and text/MMS with Mexico and Canada included with our Unlimited plans at no extra cost;

Together with AT&T PREPAID℠, we serve more than 16 million phone subscribers nationwide. The AT&T Prepaid Portfolio has maintained their lead as the fastest-growing prepaid provider in the U.S. since 2017, with 16 straight quarters of subscriber growth.

“I’m incredibly proud that the Cricket team has earned the loyalty of ten million subscribers who rely on our service to stay connected,” said John Dwyer, President of the AT&T Prepaid Portfolio. “Cricket turns 20 in March of this year, and it is clear that 2018 was our best year ever. 2019 is shaping up to be even better.”

Cricket Wireless was first launched by Leap Wireless in 1999 as a regional, prepaid carrier. On March 17, 1999, we opened our first store in Chattanooga, TN. Cricket was a trailblazer in the prepaid wireless space, being the first in the industry to offer unlimited U.S. long distance (2004), unlimited text and picture messaging (2005), unlimited music (2011), as well as the first to offer customers the same high-end smartphones as postpaid customers.

AT&T acquired Leap in 2014, merging Cricket Wireless together with Aio Wireless. Cricket Wireless relaunched that year with a little less than 4.5 million subscribers. In April of last year, Cricket hit the 9 million subscriber mark, more than doubling its subscriber base since joining the AT&T family. Today we celebrate crossing 10 million subscribers.

Since we relaunched the Cricket brand in 2015, we’ve made it our mission to change the narrative around what prepaid is and is not. We’ve doubled-down on the customer experience in our nearly 5,000 retail locations across the U.S., added more value to our plans and service, and invested more in the communities where people need us.

On March 17, Cricket Wireless will celebrate its 20th birthday together with more than 10 million subscribers and one of the highest NPS scores in the prepaid industry.
