To truly understand the impact of The LUMINA Center’s work, we’d like to share a message from their Executive Director, Sherri Bickert:
“LUMINA, acronym for Lewistown United Ministries in Neighborhood Action, is a nondenominational faith-based charitable organization whose mission is to share the light and love of Jesus through the offering of FREE programming for our at-risk children and youth. Our programs, which can be viewed at www.lumina-center.org and/or our FB page, are focused on providing academic, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual support, while networking with other community entities to establish a solid and healthy base for our local children to grow into mature, successful adults who strive to make a difference in our community and abroad. As the majority of our funding comes from our local community, networking has become a very crucial part of our ability to thrive. Our connection with One-Stop Internet is a great example. We were struggling with major internet connectivity issues from our previous provider, making even basic tasks impossible. Frustrated by our previous carrier’s inaction, we contacted and switched to One-Stop Internet. Within 24 hours, they were installing new internet and had us back online, problem-free. Our community friends at One-Stop ‘pulled out all the stops’ to ensure LUMINA, its neighborhood community center, could continue their mission without further interruption.
