Mifflin County Communities That Care (CTC) made award presentations to the winners of the Underage Drinking Prevention commercial contest. All high school students in the media classes were invited to submit a 30-second commercial. As part of the awards the winners were given a total of $200 in gift certificates to be used at One-Stop Communications.
The theme of the student commercials is “Most Mifflin County Teens Have Better Things to do than to Drink Alcohol.” In their commercials, students were asked to include statistics from the 2009 Youth Survey, which was taken by over 1,000 youth in Mifflin County. Results of this survey showed that most teens do not drink regularly, despite the common misperception to the contrary.
