HughesNet selected for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

HughesNet® service was selected by the Federal Government to participate in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). As a national provider of high-speed Internet by satellite with a proven track record of innovation, superior customer care, and reliability, HughesNet is uniquely positioned to help meet the program’s objectives.

Recovery Act Funds Overview
For households meeting eligibility requirements established according to Government guidelines, there is now a limited-time opportunity to get high-speed Internet by satellite at a significant savings:

  • Customer pays $0 to lease equipment for as long as they remain a customer in good standing
  • Customer pays $0 for standard installation (tri-mast or pole)
  • Customer may choose one of three HughesNet service plans at a significant discount off of the already
    low prices
  • Recovery Act Funds customers will have no credit check but there will be a credit card authorization up to their service plan amount at time of order to verify there is enough credit on the card. This available funds hold will be released after 3 days. This change is tentatively scheduled to begin Tuesday October 26 and will go in effect for all orders, not just Recovery Act Funds customers.

Alaska and Hawaii will be included in the program. However, the Recovery Act Funds program will launch in the 48 contiguous states initially – Alaska and Hawaii will launch later this year.

The Recovery Act Funds offer is not eligible for any of the HughesNet rebates or discounts which may be offered with our standard plans. 

Offer Details
Customers signing up for eligible plans under the Recovery Act Funds will receive the following equipment for use during their service term:

  • Outdoor .74 M Ka dish/antenna with a 1-watt radio
  • Indoor satellite modem

The equipment remains the property of HughesNet and an unreturned equipment fee will apply if the customer does not return the modem and radio at termination.
